Panel discussion ‘Adaptation through decarbonisation: companies on the path to net zero’

On 21 November, Dr Jan Schmidt, CEO of Peiner Träger GmbH, took part in the panel discussion ‘Adaptation through decarbonisation: companies on the way to Net-Zero’ as part of ZEIT für [KLIMA] in Frankfurt am Main.

In addition to the industrial electricity price for energy-intensive companies, Dr Schmidt also highlighted the importance of the CBAM - the EU's CO₂ border adjustment mechanism.

Dr Schmidt made it clear: ‘Only through a clear European industrial policy and public procurement that also enables the use of green steel can we succeed in implementing the transformation. We need a fair market economy environment that enables steel manufacturers to realise their investments. Almost 50 % CO₂ savings with our beams made of SALCOS® Structural Steel are a powerful argument. The sustainability of a building material must become a mandatory criterion in tenders and not just the lowest price bid.’
