Hone your senses - PTG at the „Hüttensymposium“ of the trade association for wood and metal

The „Berufsgenossenschaft Holz und Metall“ - BGHM (trade association for wood and metal) hosted this year's „Hüttensymposium“ in Georgsmarienhütte on 3 July. Our Head of Steelworks Christoph Wollbold presented a project on the topic of Occupational Safety in the steelworks' smelting operation.
The Peiner Träger GmbH steelworks has been producing steel for its customers in various stages of expansion for around 30 years using the electric arc process.
As part of an established occupational safety strategy and a progressive company-wide cultural change on the subject of occupational safety, the awareness of the workforce for safety-related issues has been noticeably sensitised.
As an example of this change in thinking and approach and supported by the motto "#SINNEschärfen", Mr Wollbold presented one of our projects: Increasing occupational safety when changing wall elements on the furnace vessel, through the use of stationary work platforms.
His subsequent conclusion was positive: "Safe working conditions and the health of our employees are our top priority. I am pleased that awareness of these essential issues is increasing and would like to thank the BGHM for the opportunity to further raise awareness of occupational safety through our project presentation in a practical and clear way."
