Cellular beams in comparision with castellated beams

Since the fifties engineers use the improved strength and small weight of the castellated beams in order to measure leightweight and low-priced steel constructions. Due to its variety, cellular beams represent an effective and more economic solution than castellated beams.

Flexibility

The shape of a castelled beam is standardized or defined. (See Fig. 4)

A cellular beam is infinitely flexible.

The ability to customize beam depth, cell diameter and cell spacing, creates an infinite range of sections with an infinite range of section properties.
A beam is optimised to suit specific project requirements. (See Fig. 5)
